The nomination process for the first phase of the lok sabha elections 2024 has concluded, with voting scheduled for april 19 across 102 seats in 21 states. Among the prominent candidates, Union Road Transport minister nitin gadkari has filed his nomination from his traditional stronghold of Nagpur. An interesting detail emerged from the affidavit submitted alongside Gadkari's nomination form: his wife, Kanchan Gadkari, possesses more assets than him.
In terms of annual income, nitin gadkari reported earnings of Rs 11.71 lakh in 2018-19, Rs 11.63 lakh in 2019-20, Rs 13.31 lakh in 2020-21, Rs 12.30 lakh in 2021-22, and Rs 13.84 lakh in 2022-23. Meanwhile, his wife's annual income ranged from Rs 37.97 lakh to Rs 40.62 lakh during the same period.
Regarding movable property, nitin gadkari declared Rs 12,300 in cash and Rs 49.06 lakh deposited across 21 bank accounts. In comparison, his wife has Rs 14,750 in cash and Rs 16.03 lakh in bank deposits. Additionally, Gadkari has investments totalling Rs 35.55 lakh in shares and mutual funds, while his wife's investments amount to Rs 20.51 lakh.
Both nitin gadkari and his wife possess three vehicles each, with Gadkari owning cars such as honda and Isuzu D-Max, and his wife owning vehicles like Innova and Tata Intra. Furthermore, Gadkari disclosed owning 486 grams of gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 31.88 lakh, while his wife possesses 368 grams of gold jewellery valued at around Rs 24.13 lakh.
In terms of real estate, Gadkari declared ownership of 15.74 acres of agricultural land in Nagpur, worth about Rs 1.57 crore, and his family collectively owns 14.60 acres of agricultural land valued at approximately Rs 1.79 crore. Additionally, they own seven houses in mumbai and Nagpur, with two residential buildings in mumbai valued at Rs 4.95 crore. Overall, Gadkari and his family have immovable assets worth Rs 24.49 crore.
