
Over 60% of voters cast ballots in phase 2 of lok sabha election...

In 88 constituencies spread over 13 states and Union territories, voter turnout was approximately 60% as of 5 p.m. on Friday, the day of the second phase of the lok sabha elections 2024. With a turnout of 77.93%, Tripura's single seat up for grabs in this phase saw the highest turnout, followed by three chhattisgarh constituencies (72.13%) and three West bengal seats (71.84%). 76.06% of voters cast ballots at 13 polling places in Manipur, and 70.66% of voters in assam participated up till 5 p.m.
In Maharashtra, the second phase of the lok sabha elections saw 53.51% of voters turn out. Even though Bihar's polling percentage increased from the first phase, at 53.03%, it was still somewhat higher than Uttar Pradesh's. election turnout was recorded at 56.12% in Kishanganj, 55.54% in Katihar, 55.14% in Purnea, 47.26% in Bhagalpur, and 49.50% in Banka till 5 p.m., according to officials. Up to 5 p.m., 52.74% of voters cast ballots in Uttar Pradesh's eight lok sabha seats. The election commission (EC) reports that 61.89% of voters cast ballots in amroha until 5 p.m., with meerut coming in second with 55.49%, Baghpat with 52.74%, ghaziabad with 48.21%, gautam Buddh nagar with 51.66%, bulandshahr with 54.34%, aligarh with 54.36%, and mathura with 46.96%.
In the thirteen Rajasthani constituencies that held second-phase elections, the average turnout was 59% till 5 p.m. Polling took place peacefully despite a few incidents, with the greatest turnout in Banswara-Dungarpur and Barmer-Jaisalmer. In total, more people than in the first phase cast ballots—roughly 2.8 crore eligible voters.
At least 54.83% of voters cast ballots in each of the six madhya pradesh constituencies participating in the second phase of voting. According to an election commission official who spoke with the press Trust of India, Hoshangabad had a 63.44% voter turnout until 5 p.m., followed by Tikamgarh at 57.19%, Satna at 57.18%, Damoh at 53.66%, Khajuraho at 52.91%, and Rewa at 45.02%.
