In 2016, the song Pakka local by Janatha Garage gained immense popularity, especially when Kajal—then known mostly for her roles as the girl next door—broke her image to showcase her stronger style in the song. During the height of her fame, Kajal's involvement in an item single led to some of her followers trolling her on social media. In a recent interview, Kajal revealed that her friendship with main actor jr ntr was the sole reason she consented to feature in the Pakka local song.
Kajal has a close relationship with Jr. ntr from their previous collaborations on films like as Temper, Baadshah, and Brindavanam, thus when director Koratala Siva gave her the item song, she accepted since junior ntr was starring in it. Additionally, she considered the song to be a challenge because it was the first time she had let go of her inhibitions and performed an item song. She wanted to accept the challenge as a result. Remarkably, tamannaah bhatia was first offered the song Pakka local, but she was unable to provide a release date for the movie.
