As per the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, hyderabad, a thriving metropolis in the nation, ceased to be the combined capital of telangana and andhra pradesh on Sunday. hyderabad will be the sole capital city of telangana as of june 2.
 
After Andhra Pradesh's undivided state was split in 2014, hyderabad became the capital of both states for ten years.

"The common capital of the State of telangana and the State of andhra pradesh shall be hyderabad in the existing State of andhra pradesh, on and from the appointed day (June 2), for such period not exceeding ten years," the ap Reorganisation Act stated.
 
The state of telangana was established on june 2, 2014.
 
"The capital of the State of telangana shall be hyderabad, and the State of andhra pradesh shall have a new capital upon the expiration of the period referred to in sub-section (1)," the statement said.
 
After the ap Reorganisation law was passed by parliament in february 2014, telangana State was established on june 2, 2014, therefore fulfilling a desire that had been there for decades.
 
A revanth Reddy, the chief minister of telangana, had instructed authorities last month to assume control of properties such as the Lake view government guest home in hyderabad, which was granted to andhra pradesh for ten years, after june 2.
 
Even after 10 long years of separation, andhra pradesh and telangana are still at odds over several issues, including the division of assets.
 
The telangana administration attempted to have a cabinet meeting to address matters pertaining to bifurcation, but it was not able to materialise since the election commission supposedly did not approve it in light of the code of conduct for the lok sabha elections.
