Many areas of hyderabad saw significant power disruptions on monday afternoon due to heavy rainfall, which infuriated residents over the protracted blackouts. Residents in banjara hills, Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Film Nagar, Sanathnagar, and Kondapur had prolonged power outages that lasted for many hours. These were among the areas that were most badly impacted.

The city's intense downpour on monday afternoon was blamed for the power outages, but the locals' annoyance was heightened by the officials' slow reaction. Many expressed their displeasure with the state of affairs on the microblogging platform X.

"I haven't had power for more than seven hours. The officials have not responded at all. We were forced to eat dinner by the light of our phones," one irate Masab Tank resident said.

Concerns were expressed by many internet users over the congress government's capacity to oversee the electricity infrastructure built by the previous BRS administration. They remembered that power outages and frequent blackouts were commonplace before 2014.

"Why are power outages happening more often these days? There had not been any such issues before. Both the heat and the number of power outages are surpassing all previous records. Seeing such a subpar government makes me extremely sad. We feel as though we've traveled back ten years in time. One banjara hills homeowner remarked, "These prolonged and frequent power outages are awful.

Another person had a similar opinion, criticizing the current state of affairs as the "new norm" for Hyderabad. "In a supposedly developed city, we still suffer for hours without electricity," they said.

As irate residents vented their frustrations on social media, they also brought attention to the fact that power department representatives were attributing the disruptions mostly to heavy rains and that the weather had harmed the electricity infrastructure. The impacted people, many of whom are calling for more stringent measures to guarantee that such prolonged outages do not become the norm, were not very comforted by these reasons.
