The hyderabad municipal corporation-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>greater hyderabad municipal corporation (GHMC) said on Thursday, june 20, that the facial recognition attendance system for employees has resulted in considerable cost savings. When using facial recognition, the monthly payment cost is around Rs 31 crores, compared to Rs 33.5 crores when using the aadhar biometric system.

According to the ghmc, the program makes use of artificial intelligence (AI) to verify changes in face characteristics using "liveness detection." According to the ghmc, the implementation of facial recognition technology has resulted in 100% accuracy in attendance by eliminating the need for manual attendance tracking for employees with fingerprints. During the attendance, the concerned corporation officials encountered concerns related to the field, such as staff authentication failing because of fading fingerprints and network problems.

In january 2024, the GHMC's Karwan Circle pilot project for the Facial Recognition Attendance Management System was launched utilizing a mobile application. "An RFP was issued for potential bidders to implement the facial recognition attendance system throughout the ghmc, based on the input and feedback received from the Zonal Commissioner, Khairatabad Zone, regarding the pilot project implemented and taking into consideration the challenges faced in monitoring the existing Aadhaar biometric system," the ghmc said in a release.

The ghmc claims that the facial recognition attendance system is a "foolproof" system that requires a two-step registration procedure that involves first capturing the staff member's face, then collecting their Aadhaar card, and then capturing attendance once the relevant officials have approved the registration.
