In a strange case of gaming gone awry, a man from New jersey decided to take his online rivalry offline and travelled all the way to florida to use a hammer to settle the score. You did really read correctly. The 20-year-old gaming aficionado Edward Kang is currently in jail on grave accusations, according to an Associated press story. He made mask-wearing attempts at both armed burglary and second-degree murder. Bill Leeper, the sheriff of Nassau County, described it best when he remarked, "Some things you just can't make up."

What, then, caused this altercation using a hammer? Both Kang and the younger victim, who was also a gamer, were big fans of the mediaeval fantasy MMORPG ArcheAge (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). The publisher of the game recently announced that its servers in North America and europe were shutting down, which probably infuriated a lot of the gamers. But none could have imagined that it would result in this degree of insanity.

Last Thursday, Kang packed his bags and boarded a flight from Newark, New jersey, to Jacksonville, florida, telling his mother he was seeing a buddy he met online. It's unclear how exactly he found his adversary in gaming, but while in florida, Kang took an uber to a motel in Fernandina Beach, which is around 35 miles away from Jacksonville. After that, he stopped at a nearby hardware store to buy a hammer.
