Michael Vaughan, a former captain of england, has criticised the 2024 t20 world cup semifinal schedule. In the midst of Afghanistan's lopsided 9-wicket loss to south africa in the first-round t20 world cup semi-final, he voiced his concerns. Vaughan expressed the opinion that India's semi-final matchup with england need to have been sooner and mentioned that afghanistan was not given adequate practise time to become used to the circumstances. With a commanding performance, south africa terminated Afghanistan's incredible run in the t20 world cup 2024.

Afghanistan chose to bat first but were bowled out for a just 56 runs as the inconsistent bounce of the Trinidad pitch came under scrutiny. Vaughan argued that afghanistan had only one day between their most recent Super 8 encounter against bangladesh and the semi-final match due to a travel delay. He called out prejudice against the indian squad and stated that, in an ideal world, the semi-final between india and england should have happened sooner.

But the competition had already been prearranged, and it had been determined that india would play in guyana in the event that they advanced to the t20 world cup 2024 semifinals.
