In one of the wettest spells the capital has seen in june, delhi has received 228.1 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, leaving major areas of the national capital waterlogged. delhi received more than 150 mm of rain in the three hours between 2.30 and 5.30 in the morning.
 
At Safdarjung, Delhi's main observatory, the highest amount of rain ever recorded in a single day during the month of june was 235.5 mm on june 28, 1936. To determine if Friday's rainfall is the second-highest ever, the IMD is confirming the statistics. Images posted on social media by users depicted severe traffic jams and flooded roadways in certain areas of Delhi.

Cars on Delhi's Minto Road were flooded due to severe waterlogging. Water was also up to the waist of trucks at the azad Market underpass.
 
Images from Connaught Place and the neighbourhoods surrounding a number of metro stations showed flooded streets.
 
Waterlogging beneath the Dhaula Kuan overpass has affected the important Ring Road in both directions from Naraina to Moti Bagh, according to the delhi Traffic Police.
 
Office workers were further inconvenienced by waterlogged roads in noida and ghaziabad caused by persistent rains.
