The financially strapped Jalpally municipality met with the councilors on tuesday without any development initiatives to put into action after going years without cash and falling behind in property tax collection. The chairman Abdallah Sadi led the 28-member council on tuesday, but it ended without presenting any aggressive development ideas to bring about improvement in Jalpally, which is regarded as the most underdeveloped and destitute municipality out of the 16 ULBs in the Rangareddy region.

It has come to light that the meeting ended abruptly, despite only covering minor topics such as manhole maintenance, BT patchwork at ErraKunta, sanitation, and plans for upcoming festivals. It is said that fastening manhole tops will cost Rs. 65 lakh to prevent mishaps and sewer overflow. Additionally, of the Rs. 20 lakhs allotted, Rs. 8 lakhs would be spent on patchwork at ErraKunta Road.

The chairman requested that the meeting be adjourned as there were no further agenda items presented before the council. The Jalpally municipality, which is anticipated to have a population of over a lakh, set a total demand of more than Rs. 7.2 crores for the fiscal year 2023–2024. By march 2024, however, the overall tax collection drops to only 33%. This follows a similarly unsatisfactory record of 43% collection in the previous fiscal year.

The locals claim that many of the wards lack even the most basic infrastructure, such as water, sanitation, and sewerage lines. Officials, on the other hand, believe that development projects can only begin when adequate funds and revenue from property tax collection are available to take the decisions freely. "of many of the wards of Jalpally, basic utilities like roads, sewage, and water supply are still a pipe dream.

Additionally, sanitation was limited to once-a-week sweeps of holy buildings. Additionally, water cloggings in many locations during the rainy season are a regular occurrence here, expressed regret Mohd. Shaker is a resident of ErraKunta, which is part of the Jalpally municipality.
