Following their victory in the t20 world cup on Saturday, the indian cricket team received congratulations from prime minister Narendra Modi. Notably, at the Kensington Oval in barbados in 2024, india defeated south africa by seven runs to win the t20 World Cup.
 

"CHAMPIONS! Our team brings the t20 world cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the indian Cricket Team. This match was HISTORIC," he said in a post on X, along with a congratulatory video message for the team.

President draupadi murmu also posted a congratulatory message for india on X.

She said in the post, "My heartiest congratulations to Team india for winning the t20 World Cup. With the never-say-die spirit, the team sailed through difficult situations and demonstrated outstanding skills throughout the tournament. It was an extraordinary victory in the final match. Well done, Team India! We are proud of you!"

Vice President Jadgeep Dhankar said in his post that the country "is elated by the spectacular victory" of the indian team.

He said in a post on X, "Bharat is elated by the spectacular victory of the Men in Blue in the #T20WorldCup2024! The stupendous performance by Team india throughout the tournament is a testament to their dedication and hard work. May they continue to bring glory to the nation. Heartiest congratulations!"

Union sports and youth Welfare minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the indian cricket team and said that it was a "splendid team effort".

"With every beat of our hearts, 1.4 billion indians celebrate this great victory! The nation beams with pride," he added in a post on X.

Leader of the Opposition and Raebareli mp Rahul gandhi said in a post on X, "Congratulations to Team india on a spectacular world cup victory and a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament! Surya, what a brilliant catch! Rohit, this win is a testament to your leadership. Rahul, I know team india will miss your guidance. The spectacular Men in Blue have made our country proud."
