Manchu Bhaktavatsalam Naidu, popularly known as Mohanbabu, was born in Modugulapalem in Erpedu mandal of chittoor district. He made his entry into the film industry and became a successful hero and producer. During his flourishing film career, he entered politics. Senior ntr and Mohanbabu shared a close relationship, which led to ntr nominating Mohanbabu to the rajya sabha on behalf of the telugu desam party (TDP) after becoming the chief minister in 1994. During his tenure in the rajya sabha from 1996 to 1997, Mohanbabu served on the Committee on Human Resource Development, the Committee on Urban and Rural Development, and the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

After NTR's death, Mohanbabu initially aligned with chandrababu naidu but eventually distanced himself. He continued to work in the film industry as a hero. During his time in the rajya sabha, he formed a close relationship with ysr, who was an mp at that time. This bond led to a familial connection when Mohanbabu's eldest son, tollywood hero Manchu Vishnu, married YSR's brother's daughter, which later caused a rift between the families.

After distancing himself from TDP, Mohanbabu remained close to the ysr family. When the chandrababu naidu government formed in andhra pradesh in 2014, Mohanbabu had a serious disagreement with Naidu.
