Jayaprada was born on april 3, 1955, in rajamahendravaram, rajahmundry district. But her real name is Lalitha rani but the movie producer prabhakar reddy renamed her as Jayapradha. prabhakar reddy noticed Jayaprada's talent in dancing when she was young and cast her in a role where she danced for three minutes in a film. After seeing her dance in this song, the director and producers got a series of offers for her. She acted for the first time in the tamil industry in the movie Manmadha Leelai with Kamala Haasan. After that, she entered telugu with the movie Antuleni Katha. She first acted in the telugu industry in the film Sirisirimuvva directed by K. Vishwanath. After that, she was nominated to rajya sabha from andhra pradesh in 1996. jayaprada also served as telugu Women's President. Eventually, she left tdp and joined the Samajwadi party due to differences with Chandrababu. In the 2004 general elections, she contested from the Rampur parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and won with a majority of 85 votes. The ec had also issued notices to her for violating election rules by distributing bindis to women in the Rampur Swara constituency during the 2009 lok sabha election campaign.

At the same time, she once again contested from the Samajwadi party and won. But she came out of the party on february 2, 2010, for doing anti-party activities. In the 2014 elections, she got an offer to contest from Biz Noor. She lost that election. Finally, on march 26, 2019, she joined the bharatiya janata party and continues to hold a key position in that party.
