Outside of the telugu states, kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas' most recent movie, is enjoying a remarkable run. Despite a delayed start in some areas, it had amassed a healthy 286 crore in revenue throughout india by Sunday. All regions have performed well. With a 40 crore larger hindi collection than Salaar, this puts kalki 2898 AD around 50 crore ahead of Salaar. Salaar and the film's telugu state receipts are nearly equal, coming in at a little over 125 crores apiece.

After the weekend, kalki 2898 AD is easily dominating Salaar; tamil Nadu is also performing better, and the hindi version is faring much better. But the success of kalki 2898 AD has had a big impact on two films that were on the verge of making 100 crore. Maharaja, the latest film starring Vijay Sethupathi, opened to overwhelmingly good reviews and did quite well in its first and second weekends, even in its telugu translation.

Kalki's 2898 AD release has affected Maharaja's chances. At first, Maharaja was predicted to easily surpass the $100 billion mark globally, but competition from kalki 2898 AD has caused them to struggle. After grossing about 85 crores globally, the film's goal of earning 100 crores now appears improbable. Despite not having any well-known actors, the horror comedy Munjya in bollywood proved to be a huge smash and was expected to gross 100 crores.

But now that kalki 2898 AD has occurred, it might not meet this standard. Munjya has so far amassed net earnings of over 93 crore. The enormous success of kalki in 2898 AD forced Maharaja and Munjya to give up on their goals of hitting the 100-crore mark.
