The tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) revised the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation-linked tariff revision authorized by the tamil Nadu electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) in 2022, raising the power tariff for domestic, commercial, and industrial users by 4.83% as of July 1. "After the tariff hike, the per-unit charge of power, which is currently Rs 4.60 in the state, will go up to Rs 4.83," an official stated.
 
As per the CPI-linked adjustment, the tariff was raised by 2.18% on July 1st of last year; nevertheless, the state government paid the increase in price as a subsidy to domestic customers. However, the state administration has not yet made any announcements this year regarding any such idea to shield domestic customers from tariff hikes. Since the DMK administration took power in 2021, there have been three tariff increases. Common people are suffering due to consistent hikes and DMK is keeping a muted response.

He underlined that there has been a concerning rise in homicides, assaults on women and children, fights involving alcohol, robberies, thefts, chain snatchings, and drug availability during the last three years.

“Under the DMK rule, chennai has become a murder city. It’s their three-year record with rising murders, crimes against women and children, drunken brawls, robberies, and drug availability,” annamalai stated. “Hardly a day passes without news of crimes, murders, and robberies across the state. The situation has worsened, especially for children, women, and the elderly.”
