When authorities of the telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSSPDCL) cut the power supply to homes that had unpaid power bills on Saturday, July 7, they encountered fierce resistance in Vattepally, under the Mir Alam division. When an official team went to Guntal Shah baba Dargah, they had a long list of defaulters and concurrently looked for signs of power theft. The people, however, rallied in large numbers and were against the move. Additionally, they referred to the local leaders as "Adani's men" and told them of their presence.
 
Local political figures hurried to the scene after hearing about the event and demanded that the authorities leave. According to reports, the gathering grew and started disputing with the officials regarding giving the adani Group in Hyderabad's Old City the responsibility of collecting electricity bills.
 
The TGSSPDCL officials promptly evacuated the area to prevent a confrontation. The personnel were not affiliated with any adani company, the authorities later said. They also spoke of legal action taken against anyone who obstructs authorities in the course of doing their jobs.
