The National Commission for women (NCW) has discovered offensive and obscene remarks posted on social media about the widow of Kirit Chakra Captain Anshuman Singh. The NCW, which examines constitutional and legal protections for women, has denounced the actions of the user, a delhi resident using the username "Ahmad K." Citing violations of Section 67 of the Information technology Act of 2000 and Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, NCW has called for urgent police action.
 

Taking note of the situation, NCW Chairperson rekha Sharma has written to the Deputy Commissioner of police (Central Delhi) and the Commissioner of police in delhi, requesting that the accused be taken into custody and that a thorough report be provided in three days.
 
Taking to an X platform, NCW wrote, “National Commission for women (NCW) has identified a lewd and derogatory comment made by Ahmad K. from delhi on a photo of a Kirt Chakra Captain Anshuman Singh’s widow. This act violates Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 67 of the Information technology Act, 2000. NCW condemns this behavior and urges immediate police action. Hon’ble Chairperson Ms rekha Sharma has sent a letter to the delhi Commissioner of Police
@DCPCentralDelhi to arrest the accused and send A detailed report within 3 days.”

“The National Commission for women has come across a screenshot wherein one Ahmad K., resident of delhi, has made an extremely lewd and derogatory comment on a picture of a Widow of kirti Chakra Captain Anshuman Singh (screenshots enclosed),” the letter reads.


India's second-highest peacetime bravery medal, the kirti Chakra, was given to Captain Anshuman Singh by supreme Commander of the Armed Forces President Droupadi Murmu on Friday. His wife, Smriti Singh, accepted the honor on their behalf.

Pictures taken of his widow during the serious event went viral on social media. Several people have already launched a scathing attack on it, leaving disparaging comments beneath the posts.


But, as internet users circulated images of his message endorsing the NCW for arrest requests, the user "Ahmad K" vanished from view.
 
On the matter, the delhi police have not yet responded.
