The media's allegations regarding a lizard discovered in the breakfast provided to telangana Model school children at Ramayampet in medak have been duly noted by the Union government. The Union education Ministry released a statement stating, "The Department of school education and Literacy, government of India, has taken serious note of the situation regarding recent media reports about a lizard found in the upma at telangana Model School."
 
“State government of telangana has informed that this incident happened in the Hostel of Model school of telangana Government. The State government under its own scheme provides breakfast to Model Schools and is not covered under the PM POSHAN Scheme. The State government has also informed that they have taken serious action against the concerned officials,” the statement added.

The statement restated that all states and Union Territories have been urged to take the necessary precautions to meet safety standards and serve adequately cooked food for the pupils, adding that the PM POSHAN Scheme offers hot cooked midday meals in schools.
 
Earlier this week, three telangana Model school pupils were unwell after consuming the Upma. At least thirty to forty of them finished the dinner.
 
Officials stated that a lizard had gotten into the upma that was being made for breakfast in the morning. "After giving it to thirty to forty pupils, school officials discovered it. They ceased providing it to other people as soon as they realized it, according to the police.
 
The police said, "After they started vomiting from eating the food, three students were admitted to a nearby hospital."
 
In the indore region of Madhya Pradesh, at least 100 students residing in the dorms of a coaching institution and preparing for careers in the indian Army contracted food illness earlier this month. Thirty of the students were taken to the hospital.
 
The five distinct dormitories in the city were occupied by students who were all affiliated with the same coaching institution.
 
Five children also perished in a suspected instance of food poisoning at the Shri Yugpurush Dham Baudhik Vikas Kendra in Indore.
