Despite having little celebrity power, Munjya shocked everyone with its innovative idea and enthusiastic word-of-mouth, generating over Rs 100 crore. It was directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and displayed his talent for storytelling. Now, Aditya Sarpotdar’s newest endeavour, Kakuda, another horror-comedy starring Riteish Deshmukh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Saqib Saleem, was released immediately on Zee5.

The movie centres on Riteish, a ghost hunter who must overcome paranormal obstacles in a town haunted by the spirit of Kakuda, based on an ancient folktale about the ghost. But, in contrast to Munjya, Kakuda is generally uninteresting. It's a shoddy storyline that lacks originality and originality, with similarities to films like stree and Bhediya. The movie's nearly two-hour running length feels monotonous since it can't hold viewers' attention.

The VFX and soundtrack in Kakuda fall short of what one would hope for in a horror comedy in terms of impact and scare factor. It's clear that the film's creators realised it wouldn't work in theatres, which is why they released it on OTT. In conclusion, Aditya Sarpotdar has only had one successful theatrical release Munjya but Kakuda is a letdown on the over the top platform.
