Six children died from the suspected Chandipura virus...

Health minister Rushikesh patel announced on monday that six children have died in gujarat from the suspected Chandipura virus, which has afflicted roughly twelve persons in the state. "The Chandipura virus is suspected in six deaths in the state. In a video statement posted on X, he stated, "However, confirmation of whether these cases were actually caused by Chandipura disease will only be possible until the sample results are received.

Acute encephalitis (brain inflammation) and fever are the two main symptoms of Chandipura Viral Encephalitis (CHPV). The fever is similar to the flu. The pathogen belongs to the Rhabdoviridae family's Vesiculovirus genus. Sand flies, ticks, and mosquitoes are among the vectors that spread it. The Chandipura district of Maharashtra, where the first CHPV outbreak was documented in 1965, is the source of the virus's name. According to patel, the samples have been submitted to the National Institute of Virology in pune for analysis, and it should take 12 to 15 days for the results to get back.

The virus usually strikes children between the ages of 9 months and 14 years, and it is most common during the rainy season, especially in rural regions. Four cases were recorded in Sabarkantha, three in Aravalli, and one each in Mahisagar and Kheda, according to patel, of the twelve suspected cases that were found in Gujarat. He added that one patient was from madhya pradesh and two from Rajasthan. Comprehensive surveillance and control procedures have been implemented by the state health department. To reduce the number of sandflies, officials have screened 18,646 people from 4,487 homes and sprayed pesticides in 2,093 homes. health officials have advised the public to seek medical assistance right away if symptoms, particularly in youngsters, such as a high-grade fever, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, or convulsions, emerge.
