Usha Chilukuri Vance, an Indian-American lawyer, gained global attention when Republican presidential nominee donald trump selected her husband, JD Vance, as his running mate. If trump and Vance defeat current President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala harris in the general elections on november 5, usha, 38, might become the first indian American second lady.

After the couple joyfully welcomed convention participants, usha accompanied her 39-year-old husband on monday as he accepted the nomination in an acclimation vote by delegates.

Usha, an immigrant from India, was raised in a suburb of San Diego. The family that usha comes from is Telugu. She was referred to be a “leader” and a “bookworm” by friends from her early and teenage years. She was a registered Democrat in 2014.

Usha is a civil litigation lawyer with Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, and a Yale Law school alumna. She worked as a clerk for Chief Justice john Roberts of the supreme Court. While Justice Brett Kavanaugh was a judge on the US court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, she also worked as his clerk. While studying at Yale Law school, usha and Vance got to know one another.

According to "The New York Post," she would become the first Hindu spouse of a vice president and replace second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the first Jewish husband of a vice president.

According to a New York Times feature, the Vance couple were married in Kentucky in 2014 and received a Hindu priest's blessing in a separate ceremony. The Vances are parents to three children: Mirabel, a daughter, and Ewan and Vivek, two sons.

According to the Post, usha expressed her reluctance to receive more public recognition during a joint appearance with her spouse on "Fox & Friends" last month.

Although JD Vance's successful 2022 Senate race was "an adventure," she stated that she wasn't eager to make any changes to their current way of life. She stated in the interview, "But I really love JD, and I believe in him, so we'll just see what happens with our life — where we're open." The article also stated that although Vance's wife "is not a Christian," she was "very supportive" of his growing beliefs.

Usha has made a few appearances on talk shows but hasn't participated in many public events. She and Vance were spotted on the Republican National Convention floor on monday as members of the Ohio delegation. Despite his repeated mentions of his kids, some claimed that Vance often avoids putting them in the spotlight.
