"Twisters" is a stand-alone follow-up to the 1996 disaster movie "Twister." Starring daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos, it was directed by Lee Isaac Chung ("Minari") and is an exciting adventure movie that stands alone without requiring prior knowledge of "Twister" or any others.
Former storm chaser Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) resigned five years after losing most of her pals in a terrible tornado. It pursued a career as a meteorologist in New York City. A buddy named Javi (Anthony Ramos) approaches Kate one day and tells her that tornado season is approaching in Oklahoma. He also asks her to help test some new weather-tracking device he's built.
 

After some persuasion, Kate unwillingly leaves retirement to go with Javi into the hazardous, wind-swept state in the hopes that this innovative gadget may be able to stop more people from dying from this natural occurrence. Once there, Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a social media star who amassed millions of followers by sharing all of his storm-chasing exploits online, happens to meet paths with Kate and Javi. As the storm season intensifies, Kate, Javi, and Tyler collaborate to learn more about the patterns of these lethal winds while attempting to avoid getting blown away.
The 1990s saw a huge rise in the popularity of disaster films due to technological improvements; throughout this decade, blockbusters such as "Volcano," "Armageddon," and "Independence Day" dominated the box office. "Twister" is a film about a gang of tornado chasers who are dedicated to studying these deadly storms even if it means putting their lives at risk. It is one of the most famous instances of this genre. Even though the movie had a lot of problems, viewers were nonetheless won over by its excellent spectacular effects and sound design for the time.
 

In light of the foregoing, it's important to point out that "Twister" was among the first films to be made available on DVD, most likely as a means of showcasing the audio qualities of home theatre systems. Nearly thirty years later, a stand-alone sequel called "Twisters" has emerged. Packed with technological advancements and some much-needed narrative enhancements, it nonetheless offers many of the thrills of its similarly themed relative.
As Tyler, Glen Powell is unquestionably a standout performance. His persona effortlessly steals the spotlight in almost all of his moments. Powell's portrayal reminds one of a young Matthew McConaughey, who never fails to show off his Texan heritage and exudes a calm assurance that keeps him in charge of the situation no matter how dire things may get. daisy Edgar-Jones does a decent job as Kate, even if it takes her some time in the movie to come into her own.
"Twisters" is guaranteed to deliver all the essential thrills one would anticipate from a movie about humans chasing tornadoes, regardless of whether you've watched the original or not. It never gets too caught up in serious topics or intricate explanations; instead, it just aims to amuse its audience with lighthearted popcorn entertainment.
