A kickboxer brutally attacked a meter reader in a startling occurrence after the latter cut off the latter's home's energy supply because there were unpaid electrical bills of Rs 9,858. Line inspector H srikanth and meter reader Sai Ganesh had gone to collect unpaid electricity bills from a family when the event occurred in the Moti nagar neighborhood of Erragadda, which is within the jurisdiction of the Sanathnagar police station.
 
The owner's kickboxer son told the officials he wouldn't be paying the bills and gave them free rein to do as they pleased. The kick-boxer struck the victim in the face and other portions of his body, seriously injuring him before Ganesh switched off the MCB. Even srikanth was physically attacked as he attempted to stop the onslaught. After the fighting subsided, srikanth drove Ganesh to ESI Hospital so he could receive medical attention.

A complaint was lodged at Sanathnagar police station by the victims. The police booked the attacker under Sections 142 (wrongfully confining, kidnapping, or abducting) and 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).  The power staff group expressed grave worries about the regular attacks and questioned how they could continue to work in such an environment. The organization declared that more action regarding similar incidents of aggression against power personnel will be disclosed following a discussion with a union member. They insisted that the assailant get the worst punishment possible.
