With the 2015 release of the malayalam film Premam, sai pallavi made her cinematic debut and quickly eclipsed leading ladies. Alphonse Puthren wrote, directed, and edited the coming-of-age romantic picture. Nivin Pauly and sai pallavi play the major parts in this film, which was produced by Anwar Rasheed.

The movie's Rs 4 crore budget was used to produce it. With a revenue of Rs 74.5 crore, it was a huge commercial success. The movie was shown in theatres for 175 days in kerala and over 300 days in tamil Nadu.

Nayanthara is said to have had 14 Filmfare Award nominations to date, however, she has only won five of them. However, Trisha, an actress, has also taken home five Filmfare Awards.
