Superstar Rajinikanth is well-known in india for his iconic film roles. However, not many people know that he once declared his intention to wed the late actress Sridevi. That's right, the actor, who was 13 years older than sridevi, was very close to the actress and protective of her; at one point in time, only sridevi, Kamal Haasan, and k balachander had the superstar's personal phone number. 

Since Sridevi's 1976 film Moondru Mudichu, which marked her breakthrough as a leading woman at the age of 13, Rajinikanth and sridevi have been on huge screens together. Rajinikanth played the primary antagonist in the film, and the actress played his stepmother, who was out for revenge.
 
Both performers grew close to one another over time, and they even went on to collaborate on 19 different films in a variety of languages. The actor apparently sought sridevi for her hand in marriage and had a good relationship with her mother.
 
The filmmaker described how the celebrity went to Sridevi's residence to propose to her in a previous interview with K Balachander. But as they both walked into the actress's house for the Griha Pravesh ceremony, which is a housewarming, the lights went out and the entire area was enveloped in darkness.
 
Rajinikanth chose to depart without telling her that he intended to be married since he thought this was a bad omen. The superstar maintained his friendship with the actress even after his attempt to marry her failed. It's unknown how sridevi felt about this, despite the fact that it was obvious the former had affection for the actress.
