According to Variety, Deadpool & Wolverine has a $200 million budget. With The Numbers putting it on a level with the major entries in the Multiverse Saga, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, this is about average for the MCU's contemporary non-Avengers films. This rather uniform budget for the most well-known MCU films serves to set the baseline for what type of production value to anticipate.

A $100 million marketing expenditure is reportedly added on top of the budget. Given the massive amount of publicity that has been seen throughout Spring and Summer 2024—including numerous off-piste brand partnerships (like the cheeky Xbox controller) and a sprawling press tour from the filmmakers—it is hardly surprising that Marvel spent half of the film's entire budget on marketing. Deadpool and Wolverine are under pressure to shore up Marvel's finances, given that the studio is still recovering from a major box office disaster in Fall 2023.

Considering the calculations indicated before, Deadpool & Wolverine must earn a minimum of $400 million. A well-known, unofficial hollywood guideline is that a film must cost twice as much to produce as it does to turn a profit. Although this is a very approximate estimate that is seldom accurate for every film, it does appear to be consistent with the marketing expenditure and budget that Deadpool and Wolverine have disclosed. Deadpool & Wolverine should break even between $300 million and $400 million after deducting other unnecessary expenses, with the higher end of that range being a comfortable success.
