Arrested were a father and son who were reportedly selling ganja to villagers while cultivating cannabis plants at their Nagulavancha village house in Chintakani mandal in the district. According to police, the guy attempted to con the officers conducting the raid on his home by claiming he had no knowledge of the cannabis plants and had mistaken them for gourda (a plant related to sorrel).

The accused, Kandimalla Venkateshwarlu, and his son srihari grew ganja plants in their home for several years and supplied the locals with the product, essentially operating a small-scale cannabis farm, according to the police. When Chintakani police entered Venkateshwarlu's home on Thursday, they discovered a few cannabis plants within the premises after receiving a tip.

Venkateshwarlu admitted under inquiry that he was unaware of the plants. He attempted to play the officers by pretending that he thought they were gongura plants. When the police investigated the residence, they also discovered ten grams of dried ganja. The cannabis plants and the ganja were taken from the residence. Following the Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, SI nagul meera filed a case against the defendants. There is now more research being done.
