'Raayan' is Dhanush's second film of 2024, following 'Captain Miller'. Preliminary projections state that the movie debuted at the box office with Rs 12.50 crore. Although there were no significant conflicts in the movie, it was released concurrently with the hollywood blockbuster "Deadpool and Wolverine."

Following 'Pa Paandi' in 2017, 'Raayan' is Dhanush's second film as director. A Sacnilk report states that on Day 1, the movie took in Rs 12.50 crore. In the tamil belt, the overall occupancy rate was 58.65%.

It's even said that "Raayan" is performing well internationally. The movie opened to outstanding reviews in the United Arab Emirates, singapore, and malaysia, taking the second place directly after "Deadpool and Wolverine."

Trade analyst Ramesh bala posted, "#Raayan debuts at No.2 jus behind #DeadpoolAndWolverine in UAE, singapore and malaysia (sic)."

The basic plot of Dhanush's 50th movie is a vengeance tale. His directing abilities are glimpsed in the interval block. 'Raayan', as a writer, is shallow emotionally. It takes feelings to make the revenge angle work. Even if there are a lot of turns and turns, the payoff moments don't have the desired effect. Many unanswered concerns are addressed superficially in the second part.
