Raayan, which recently debuted in theatres, received mostly negative reviews. Specifically, the telugu discourse is not very positive towards the dhanush film, which the actor is directing. In the meanwhile, there are a tonne of Raayan-related memes on social media, most of which serve a single purpose.
 
Dhanush's admirers are pleading with him to continue performing and abstain from film directing. The grievance is that while dhanush did a fantastic job as an actor in the movie, he did a really poor job as a director. There is a general consensus that Dhanush's film displays a lacklustre level of directing since he chose the wrong plot and did not deliver it in a way that was entirely captivating.
 
Although some are focussing on the technical elements, most people agree that dhanush should have stayed with acting and not directed the movie. A famous hero directing and acting in his own movie is quite uncommon, and dhanush seems to have struggled with it. prithviraj Sukumaran, who directed lucifer and Bro Daddy, seems to be the only South actor capable of directing films and scoring successes. dhanush seems to have burned his hand trying the same thing.
