Information regarding the occurrence

The Delhi fire department was notified at around 7 p.m. on saturday about waterlogging at the Rao IAS Study Centre and in the Karol Bagh area. Two or three students were reportedly trapped in a flooded basement, according to the police. They arrived to find the basement completely submerged in water. Rainwater kept flowing into the basement, making it difficult to pump out the water at first. But, as the road water subsided, they were able to lower the water level from 12 feet to eight feet and recover the students' remains. Out of the thirty or so kids in the coaching center, twelve or fourteen were saved and sent to a hospital, while the remaining students were able to flee.

The police declared that the rescue effort was over and that an investigation will be carried out to find out how the water got into the basement and why a class was being held there. In the meantime, the proprietor and coordinator of the coaching center was placed under arrest by the police, and a criminal complaint over the student fatalities was filed.

In addition, delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has instructed the MCD Commissioner to take severe measures against coaching centers operating in delhi that fall under the MCD's purview and do business in basements that are not compliant with building codes. She further stated that a prompt investigation will be carried out to see whether any MCD officers are accountable for this tragedy. She stated that the strictest measures must be taken against any official found guilty.
