Two people, one of whom is a local leader of the bharatiya janata party (BJP), were taken into custody in the Kolar region of karnataka after they shared offensive facebook remarks about Muslims. The facebook post, which was purportedly made on friday, July 26, allegedly attacked Muslims for not paying taxes, according to sources from the area.
 

The purported message said, "July 31st is almost here. Kindly make your timely tax payments. Ultimately, your taxes serve as a subsidy for someone.
 
Muslim community members were incensed when the two arrested—BJP leader Navin Jain and businessman chetan Bantia—shared the postings on their own facebook pages.
 
A sizable contingent of the Muslim community assembled at the Robertsonpet police station late on friday night, demanding that two people be taken into custody and issue an apology.
 
When Panduranga, the deputy superintendent of police, came, he spoke with local leaders.

Trader chetan Bantia and bjp politician Navin Jain are the two people who were taken into custody. Anger was generated throughout the Muslim community by their posts. Many Muslims gathered outside the Robertsonpet police station late on friday night, calling for the two men to be arrested and to apologize. After arriving on the site, Deputy Superintendent of police Panduranga held conversations with local leaders.
