The Rau's IAS coaching school in delhi, where three prospective civil servants lost their lives on saturday due to flooding in the basement during an intense downpour, costs more than ₹1 lakh for a nine- to ten-month general studies course. The general studies (Prelims and Mains) integrated foundation costs ₹1,75,500 (offline) and ₹95,500 (live-online), according to the center's website. A six-month course in optional topics costs ₹45,500 (live-online) and ₹55,500 (offline). 

A three-month coaching session for the Civil services Aptitude Test (CSAT) costs ₹18,500 (offline) and ₹12,500 (live-online). The three victims were candidates for the Union Public service Commission (UPSC): Nivin Dalwin from Ernakulam, Kerala; tanya Soni from Telangana; and Shreya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
 
According to ThePrint, one of the victims, Rajender Yadav, the father of Shreya Yadav, stated that they had taken out a loan to pay for the coaching facility. He, a dairy farmer by trade, stated that they were not shocked when his daughter passed away on July 27 and that they didn't find out until much later in the evening, according to The Print. 

The delhi fire department was notified at approximately 7 p.m. on saturday about waterlogging at the Rao IAS Study Centre and in the Karol Bagh neighborhood. Two or three students were reportedly trapped in a flooded basement, according to the police. They arrived to find the basement completely submerged in water. Rainwater kept flowing into the basement, making it difficult to pump out the water at first. But, as the road water subsided, they were able to lower the water level from 12 feet to eight feet and recover the three kids' bodies.
 
The police said that there were about thirty pupils at the coaching facility, of which twelve or fourteen were saved and sent to a hospital, with the remaining students managing to flee.
