Raayan, Dhanush's historic 50th film in which he both stars and directs, opened to a very mixed critical reception and a respectable box office haul. On its first day, the movie brought in a total of 24 crores globally, and on the second day, its performance remained consistent. Worldwide sales during the first weekend are expected to reach 65–70 crores.

Raayan broke Dhanush's previous highest first-day record in tamil Nadu, earning about 11 crores on its first day of release. Despite the conflicting reviews and reactions from critics, Raayan is a box office triumph because of her outstanding performance. Vijay Sethupathi's 50th film, Maharaja, was released a few weeks ago. The movie was a huge success, taking in 100 crores globally and receiving excellent reviews.

The movie is a real blue smash in every way and is causing chaos on OTT as well. Without a doubt, Sethupathi's 50th movie has been a huge hit for him. Not all landmark films, though, have done as well. Sura, Thalapathy Vijay's 50th movie, was a huge letdown when it came out in 2010. The movie was a complete failure and is still widely mocked on social media as one of Vijay's worst flicks. Ajith's 50th movie, Mankatha, was a hit for other well-known actors, whereas Vikram's 50th movie, I, made good money but is only regarded as mediocre because of its excessive production expenditures and dreadful content.
