According to officials, landslides that struck Kerala's mountainous wayanad district on tuesday claimed the lives of five people, including two children. According to the wayanad district administration, among those slain, four, including a toddler, perished in the district's Chooralmala town, while a one-year-old kid from a Nepali family died in the Thondernad hamlet.

Authorities claimed that the villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha were among those impacted and cut off by the landslides. UDF mla T siddique stated in a video message that measures were being developed by district officials to airlift residents from the Mundakkai region.

As of right now, all of the information on the deceased and missing from the landslides is incomplete. Numerous regions have been isolated. Employees of the NDRF are attempting to get to those locations, he added.

Meanwhile, two air Force helicopters will soon leave Sulur for wayanad to assist in the search and rescue efforts, according to a facebook post by kerala Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

District officials report that a number of households have been relocated following the landslides to other camps or relatives' residences. The announcement stated that anyone in need of emergency help can get in touch with the authorities by calling 9656938689 and 8086010833.

According to the kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), teams from the NDRF and Fireforce have been sent to the affected region, and a third NDRF team is currently on its way to Wayanad.

According to a KSDMA facebook post, two units of the Kannur Defence Security Corps have also been ordered to go to wayanad to help in the rescue operations. Many individuals in the impacted areas are reportedly afraid they may be trapped, according to locals. The persistently high rains is impeding rescue efforts.
