It is not new for celebrities to endorse diet and fitness products. But as internet users get more astute, they are beginning to see the ulterior motives behind these celebrity endorsements, as most of the time these are sponsored advertisements rather than sincere advice or recommendations.

The popular tollywood actress Nayanthara is currently under criticism for endorsing a hibiscus tea beverage, which she claims is her favorite and has been used for a long time in Ayurveda. The Jawan actress listed the health advantages of hibiscus tea in her post, stating that it is rich in antioxidants and beneficial for conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart-related illnesses. It is excellent for those with acne, heat boils on the skin, and other skin conditions since it is highly cooling for the system.

She added, “Hibiscus tea is great for the monsoon season as it is rich in vitamins and keeps our immune system in equilibrium. It has antibacterial effects that protect from seasonal infection/ illness.” Nayanthara has even shared the recipe for making this tea in her IG story.

The hepatologist and instagram user known as "The Liver Doc," Dr. Cyriac Abby Phillips, called out the actress for uploading a deceptive post about Hibiscus tea, only hours after she had shared these advantages. This doctor is the same one who made headlines a few weeks ago when he criticized samantha Ruth Prabhu for a post she had made about health-related items.

In his elaborate post on X, Dr. Cyriac wrote, “If she had stopped at hibiscus tea is kind of tasty, that would have been ok. But no, they have to go ahead and blow their health-illiteracy trumpet and also claim that hibiscus tea is helpful in diabetes, high blood pressure, acne, antibacterial, and protects against the flu..”
