A guy claimed to the india Herald that he had never experienced anything such in any other city after being intimidated and harassed by a bunch of autorickshaw drivers in Bengaluru for using Uber. On July 25, Thomas Simte, a 27-year-old, became the most recent casualty of the conflict between Bengaluru's bike taxi and autorickshaw drivers. After more than a year of residency in Bengaluru, the man from meghalaya reserved an uber bike cab from Indiranagar Metro Station.

In Bengaluru, bike taxis typically pull up a few feet from car stations. But because it was pouring, I requested the bike rider to pick me up this time at the auto stand," he said to india Herald. When the uber bike came, a bunch of car drivers encircled us. He responded, "They requested that I cancel the ride.

The autorickshaw drivers soon started pushing and shoving Thomas and his uber driver, turning the verbal threats into physical violence. "To help me get off the bike, someone grabbed my bag from behind," he claimed. They then began conversing in Kannada. Fortunately, my uber bike driver got into a fight with the car drivers because he was a local as well.

“I saw some people recording the altercation, and that is when I realized that I should also film it,” said Thomas. In his video, he can be heard asking the auto drivers “Why are you harassing me? Let me go. If people want to take uber, they will take Uber.” He shared the video on X.

By requesting his uber driver to start driving, the 27-year-old was able to get away. in the other hand, he alleges that a motorist struck him in the back as they were leaving. Thomas told the india Herald that he thinks bike taxis are better than autorickshaws since in Bengaluru, auto drivers tend to overcharge their passengers. "Even for short distances, like a one-kilometer trip, they demand ₹300," he said. "Who has the money to spend that much? I like uber trips because of this.
