Bailey Bridge to increase rescue operations in Wayanad.

A 190-foot Bailey bridge connecting the most severely impacted villages of Mundakkai and Chooralmala is being built as part of an attempt to step up rescue efforts in the wayanad landslide-stricken areas, officials announced on Wednesday. With a 24 tonne weight capability, the bridge should be finished by thursday night. Because of its length, the bridge is being constructed with a pier in the center of the river, which will make rescue efforts easier after it is finished.

Supplies for constructing the bridge are being delivered from Bengaluru and delhi to Chooralmala. 17 trucks are transporting the commodities that are flown into Kannur airport to Wayanad. At a news conference, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared that a second special air Force plane had arrived at Kannur international airport, transporting supplies for a makeshift bridge from Chooralmala to the remote Mundakkai.

The authorities in wayanad on wednesday ordered residents residing in landslide-prone sections of the hill district to relocate as soon as possible to safer areas, as the rains continued to pummel various parts of the state. district collector D R Meghasree advised people to exercise caution if they live in areas that are prone to landslides or have seen landslides in the past. She called for more vigilance in a statement, citing locations such as Kurumbalakotta, Lakkidi, Manikunnumala, Sugandhagiri, and others. Additionally, the collector advised everyone who had been instructed to relocate to the camps to vacate their homes as soon as possible. The official went on, "Village officers and secretaries of the local self-government bodies should take the necessary steps in this regard."
