Indian legend Anshuman Gaekwad passed away...

Former indian team player and former coach Anshuman Gaekwad passed away last night after undergoing treatment for cancer. Recently, on behalf of bcci, Rs 1 crore was given for his medical treatment, but his sudden death has shocked many people. Anshuman Gaekwad was a regular substitute opener for the indian team from 1974 to 1982. Anshuman Gaekwad has played 40 Test matches for the indian team, scoring 2 centuries and 10 fifties. Likewise, they have accumulated more than 12 thousand runs in first-class matches.
Ansuman Gaekwad has played 205 first-class matches, scoring 37 centuries and 47 fifties. His best innings was against pakistan when he stayed on the field for 11 hours and scored a double century. He retired in 1982 and coached the indian team from 1997 to 1999. Due to the various failures under his coaching and the problems within the team that could not be overcome, kapil dev was brought under his charge. He then coached kenya for a few years, but in 2009 he refused to take on the role as a full-time coach.

71-year-old Anshuman Gaekwad has been suffering from leukemia for the past few years.
