The professional fee for the residents of chennai Corporation has been increased by up to 35  percent. Similarly, the license fee for tea stalls has been increased to Rs 10,000. The meeting of chennai Corporation was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Priya. Newly appointed Commissioner J.Kumaraguruparan participated for the first time. As soon as the meeting began, congress and  MDMK councilors protested against the Union Budget by tearing a copy of the budget.

Of the 72 resolutions passed, all were passed. The fine for letting cattle roam on the roads has been increased from Rs 5,000  to Rs 10,000. The owner will be fined Rs 10,000  for the first time and  Rs  15,000  for the second catch. An additional Rs 1,000  per day will be charged for maintenance from the third day.


Similarly, the professional tax for employees in corporation areas has also been increased by  35%.  There is no professional tax for those earning up to Rs 21,000 for six months. Those earning between Rs 21,001 and Rs 30,000  will get Rs  180.
Those earning between Rs 30,001 and Rs 45,000  will be charged Rs 430, those earning between Rs 45,001 and Rs  60,000  will be charged Rs 930 and those earning between Rs  60,001 and Rs 75,000  will be charged Rs  1,025.

There has been no change in the tax of  Rs 1,250  collected from those earning more than Rs 75,001. Similarly, the corporation passed a resolution to increase the license fee for companies up to Rs  30,000. Tea shops charge a minimum of Rs 2,000 and a maximum of Rs 10,000. For marriage halls, the minimum fee is Rs  10,000 and the maximum is Rs  30,000.
