The city in india placing the most vegetarian orders has been identified by the food delivery service Swiggy, and it's not the traditional suspect. Yes! It's Bengaluru. The numbers were unveiled as part of Swiggy’s announcement on Green Dot Awards, spotlighting the restaurants selling the best in vegetarian food across the country.

What Bengaluru eats
Bangalore isn't only India's Silicon Valley—it's also the Veggie Valley, according to Swiggy's order analysis. In the capital of Karnataka, the most popular vegetarian meals are Paneer butter masala, Paneer Biryani, and masala Dosa.

And what about the rest of India?
Popular throughout the country, masala dosa is a popular option for breakfast, lunch, and supper. However, Mumbai, the city with the second-highest number of vegetarian orders, is the epicenter of Dal Khichdi, Margherita pizza, and Pav Bhaji. Lastly, Hyderabad's Idli and masala dosa complete the top three.

According to Swiggy, morning is the best time of day for vegetarians, with over 90% of breakfast orders being plant-based. In india, vada, idli, Pongal, and masala dosa were the most popular morning foods.

An india, pizza with a Margherita mix came out on top overall, with samosas and pav bhaji coming a close second. But indians also started eating healthier; according to Swiggy, over 60,000 orders for vegetable salads are made there each week.
