Prior to competing in the paris olympics in 2024, American track and field athlete Veronica Fraley has more urgent worries: she cannot afford to pay her rent. The 24-year-old discus athlete stated she had no money for rent but will be participating in the olympics on friday in a post that was posted on X yesterday.

“I compete in the olympic games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent,” she wrote. “My school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything) enough to buy new cars and houses.” Fraley is an athlete at Vanderbilt university in Nashville, Tennessee, according to Forbes.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and rapper Flavour Flav promised to assist her shortly after she shared her situation on social media.
 
"I understand you. "DM me, and I'll send the payment TODAY so you don't have to worry about it TOMORROW," William Drayton Jr., real name Flavour Flav, replied.
 
Soon after, rapper and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian promised to divide the expenses. "Now, hurry on! The spouse of tennis star Serena Williams, Ohanian is a strong advocate for female athletes. "I'll split it with Flavour Flav," she wrote.
