Renowned hindi actress Mita Vashisht is well known for her parts in the films Ghulam and dil Se. She has also acted in a few southern flicks. She recently related a disturbing story about a telugu filmmaker she encountered on the casting couch. She described, at the chennai Film Festival, how the director pursued her outside as she ran for her life after attempting to stop her from exiting a room.

In a recent interview, Mita disclosed that the director asked her to move in with him for two months in exchange for an offer of a leading part. She initially believed there was a miscommunication, but the director was quite clear about his intentions. He shut the door when she tried to go out. She laughed to diffuse the tension, made her way out, and went back to her pals.

When the director subsequently showed up in their room, her pals Kumar Shahani and Khalid Mohammed stepped in and dealt with him coolly. According to Mita, she makes it plain to filmmakers that she won't act in this way, yet some have nonetheless chosen to cast her, honouring her limits.
