At around 274 crore net, kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) is getting close to reaching rrr (Hindi) lifetime collection. To beat rrr, which made about 275 crore net, it simply needs 1 crore more. After Baahubali: The Conclusion and kgf 2, kalki 2898 AD will become the third-highest earning South indian movie in hindi if it surpasses RRR.
 
It's astonishing to see that kalki 2898 AD's popularity stems mostly from its performance in the South, particularly in mysore, where it has grossed over 20 crore net, ranking among the top 10 hindi films in mysore history and becoming the highest grossing hindi film of the year. Its Hindi-dubbed version is primarily responsible for its excellent performance. The success of kalki 2898 AD in the South may be attributed mostly to amitabh Bachchan's appearance. Since many admirers in the South were thrilled to see the great back in action, his part has attracted sizable crowds to the hindi version.
 
Many South indians favour the hindi version over the telugu or other South indian versions because of his baritone, dramatic language in hindi, and nostalgic appeal. On the other hand, fewer people in the South watched RRR's hindi version. The majority of South indian audiences favoured viewing rrr in other regional dubs or in its original telugu version, which led to rrr earning less in hindi than kalki 2898 AD.
