Runway at kolkata airport flooded due to heavy rain...

The runway at kolkata, West Bengal's Netaji Subhash chandra bose International Airport experienced waterlogging due to heavy rains that fell continuously on saturday as a low-pressure region transformed into a deep depression, affecting the city and surrounding districts. Waterlogging was caused by the severe rain in Barrackpore, Howrah, kolkata, and salt Lake. The condition is expected to endure throughout the day, according to the indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Although there was no disruption to transportation, police in central and south kolkata reported ankle-deep water. Since friday afternoon, there has been up to 7 cm of rain in certain regions.

Why did kolkata receive so much rain?

"The deep depression that was approaching bihar and Uttar Pradesh was caused by the low pressure that was over jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. The rains were triggered by this, and an active monsoon trough ran across southern West bengal, the official said.
