There are several examples of famous performers' siblings failing to achieve success in Bollywood. Some disappear after a few years, some go into other areas of the film industry, while yet others go on to achieve success in the future. Of them all, though, this young actress from the 1980s—whose two sisters had fame in the movie business—was maybe the most unhappy. But she was never successful, and at the time of her death, she even courted scandal.

In the 1980s, Reem Kapadia, the younger sister of bollywood actress Dimple Kapadia, aspired to be an actor. When Reem attempted to pursue a career in acting, Dimple had already returned from her hiatus and was starting her second career. Simple Kapadia, the third sister, had also made her debut and was seen to be a promising young woman. But Reem never made a profit from her well-known last name. She tried out for the 1984 movie Lava, but Dimple was cast instead. Salma Seeta Suzy and another untitled movie, which were her next two projects, were both shelved.

Eventually, Reem starred with rakesh roshan in the sleazy horror movie Haveli. Regrettably, the movie was Reem's sole commercially produced picture and a box office failure. She reportedly got a contract with Naasamajh in 1986 but was fired for allegedly acting in an unprofessional manner.

Reem Kapadia’s mysterious death

Reem left bollywood when her projects were shelved. She had become a recluse by 1990. Reem was discovered deceased at her mumbai residence on march 27, 1991. The official cause of death was a sleeping medication overdose. Though it was never confirmed, there were rumors immediately following her death that suggested she may have committed herself.

When Reem battled a scandal even in death
Reem's name was linked to a controversy that surfaced shortly after her passing as well. According to certain newspapers, the huge Hinduja international flesh trading scandal may have had anything to do with her murder. She was allegedly involved in the controversy, according to the reports. But nothing was ever established. Reem's overdose death was ultimately determined to be an accident.
