She continued, saying, "It is quite surprising and it feels strange that she was disqualified for being 100 gm overweight." She also expressed her hope for Phogat to drop the 100 gms rapidly, but expressed disappointment that "she would not get an opportunity."

Vinesh Phogat advanced to the gold medal match on tuesday night after defeating Yusneylis Guzman Lopez of cuba 5-0 in the semifinals. But on Wednesday, august 7, the following day, she was disqualified from the 50 kg wrestling competition because she weighed 100 grams over.
