The previous few days at the 2024 Summer olympics in paris have been heartbreaking for India, as wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from her gold medal match due to being overweight for her 50kg competition. Sadly, the elite athlete's efforts were unsuccessful by 100 grammes, resulting in her disqualification. Following the revelation, a number of well-known people expressed their support for Vinesh.

Regretfully, following her disqualification, the Olympian has chosen to end her wrestling career, much to the dismay of both Vinesh and wrestling enthusiasts. When samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a message regarding Vinesh's retirement, the actress expressed the sentiments of the country. Words could not express the depth of feeling when sam posted a heartbreak emoji, encapsulating the collective mood of a billion Indians.

According to the PTI (Press Trust of India), Vinesh Phogat has retired from the sport. In her retirement message, the athlete stated, “Ma(mother), wrestling has won, I have lost. Please forgive me, your dreams, and my courage, everything is broken. I don’t have any more strength now. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024. I shall be indebted to you all. Forgive me.” Following an incredible performance in the 2024 olympics, in which she defeated many world champions, Vinesh was on the verge of making history for her family, India, and herself. She was discovered to be 100 grammes overweight during the weigh-in, but fate had other ideas.
