Sobhita dhulipala was born on May 31, 1992, in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh. Her family is Telugu. Her mother, Santha Kamakshi, was a primary school teacher, while her father, Venugopal Rao, was an engineer for the Merchant Navy. samantha dhulipala is the name of her younger sister.

At sixteen, Sobhita, who was born and raised in Visakhapatnam, migrated to Mumbai. She studied corporate law at the university of Mumbai's H.R. college of Commerce and Economics. She has also received training in traditional dance styles like kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. At the yearly Navy Ball in 2010, Sobhita was proclaimed the Navy Queen. A future pageant was suggested for her to audition by a friend who was interning at Miss Office. Sobhita, who called herself an "uncool geek," entered the competition in need of approval and intended to just make it through the first round.
 
Sobhita competed as an indian representative for Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines, however, she was not placed in the top 20. She did, however, take home honors like Miss Photogenic and Miss beauty for a Cause. In 2014, she was included in the Kingfisher Calendar as well. 'Raman Raghav 2.0' was Sobhita's cinematic debut in 2016, with Vicky Kaushal. She received praise from critics and a nomination for best-supporting performance during the Director's Fortnight of the Cannes Film festival for her work. She inked a three-film deal with Phantom Films in that same year.
