PM Modi will visit landslide-hit wayanad tomorrow...
On Saturday, prime minister Narendra Modi will visit wayanad, kerala, the site of a landslide, to assess relief and rehabilitation activities. Around eleven a.m., the prime minister will arrive in Kannur. He will then conduct an airborne study of Wayanad's landslide-prone districts. When Modi visits the landslide-affected area at roughly 12:15 p.m., the rescue operation forces will brief him on the evacuation activities. He will supervise the ongoing repair efforts there. Additionally, PM Modi will visit the hospital and relief camp, where he will speak with and engage with the landslide victims and survivors. After that, the prime minister will preside over a review meeting, during which he will receive a comprehensive briefing on the disaster and the current rescue activities.
In the hill district, on July 30, there were significant landslides that resulted in 226 fatalities and over 130 missing persons. In a "last ditch effort" to locate those who are still missing after all other options have been used, family are being included in the search, according to kerala Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who made this announcement yesterday. "I'm looking for my brothers in the hopes of finding at least a portion of our loved ones' bodies. Several of our friends and family members are still unaccounted for," survivor Mohanan told PTI.
Search operations include relatives of victims of landslides.
Excavators and other equipment have been provided by the state government, and hundreds of rescue personnel are involved in the operation as well. However, rahul Gandhi, the head of the opposition in the lok sabha, has pushed the government to designate the wayanad landslides as a "national disaster.""A few days ago, my sister and I traveled to wayanad, where I witnessed firsthand the destruction, sorrow, and anguish brought on by this catastrophe. "There are over 200 dead and numerous missing, but the total number of casualties is anticipated to exceed 400," stated Gandhi, the former lok sabha representative for Wayanad.
