Directed by renowned filmmaker Asim Abbasi, Barzakh is an incredible cinematic cooperation between Pakistani and indian producers Waqas Hassan and Shailja Kejriwal. The six-episode series is available on YouTube and Zindagi TV. Leading Pakistani actors salman Shahid, M fawad khan, Sanam Saeed, and fawad khan are featured in the show.

However, Pakistani religious radicals had already fiercely retaliated against it before then. Because Saifullah, the show's gay character, is portrayed in a negative light. Numerous trolls on social media have expressed their displeasure at its misrepresentation of Islamic customs and folklore. They criticised it for being against their culture and said it was a ruse to draw in viewers from the West. Following a great deal of hate mail, the show's creators have voluntarily removed it from YouTube Pakistan. They declared their intention to avoid offending viewers' feelings and provoking more hostility.

Despite the criticism, the program is well-liked for its ethereal plot and stunning photography. As the first season draws to a close, people are already making predictions for the next one. It highlights the fact that radicals' narrow-minded beliefs shouldn't be allowed to stifle creativity. A show requires a great deal of human effort and hard work, which is something that should be acknowledged. Many viewers may relate to Saifullah's character since she has a lot of inner depth and shares a closeted gay existence. The creators' choice will take effect on august 9th, although the show is still available for free worldwide streaming.
